A photo of Quin laying in the grass with their dog. They are both smiling.

This photo was taken on Calgary/Mohkinstsis/Treaty 7 under the poplar tree at my Gramma’s house, where I am originally from & have ties, reverence & responsibility to. I live & grow on the Snuneymuxw land of so-called Nanaimo. Snuneymuxw holds a pre-confederation treaty with the crown that they are working to have upheld - the treaty of 1854. My family is originally from England & from Scotland and I am the first in my direct family born in so-called Canada. I also have ties, deep care and commitment to We Wai Kai Territory/Quadra Island, which has always felt like home.

My impact is important to me

I choose to work in the way I do in part so that I am not beholden to a carceral external clinical board, particularly one who may not share my abolitionist values. I answer to my accountability pod & my mentor.

I am committed to modelling consent & accountability throughout our relationship & will make specific space for you to give me feedback every few sessions. In the case that you don’t feel comfortable bringing something directly to me you can email my pod. Your name & feedback will never be shared with me without your consent.

The purpose of the pod is to help me work ethically and to be proactive about growth & living my values. They aim to notice patterns, address them and to help me grow if I make mistakes. We are all disabled. The speed of this work is often slow. My pod is committed to providing witnessing & compassion, and to addressing issues within reasonable timelines. They will never share anything with me that you do not want shared.

My current accountability pod is:

Jacquie Shaw (they/them)

kelaeno sierks (all pronouns)

Raizel Sinason (they/them)

They can be reached privately at quinspod@gmail.com

My peer mentor is Luna Hughson. With consent, Luna will occasionally sit in on conflict conversations with me. I speak to them discreetly about my clients to garner their advice & guidance.
